Today we had 2 gentleman come into the classroom. One worked for the National Forest Service and the other one worked for the Seward Sea Life Center.
It was so awesome to see these two guys do a short presentation that had the kids so excited and involved. Half of the class had been to the Seward Sea Life Center last year, (they got to go as a class), and were so excited to see Woody the Walrus.
They also went over what makes a mammal and what animals are mammals. It was great to see some of the students who may not typically volunteer to answer or really care to be involved be very interested in this topic.
I cannot wait till I can make a trip and check out this phenomenal facility. This facility is not just a place to go and check out the animals, but a place of research, education, and rehabilitation.
So many of our animals that we take for granted may soon be non-existant if it was not for people like this who take the time to do what they can to keep the species a live.
