After all the hush hush is over... I have exciting news! Our school here in Nanwalek is one of 114 school ACROSS the nation to recieve a grant from Apple, and we are the only school in Alaska!
Monday, October 17th, Nanwalek School got news that they were one of the final recipiants of an Apple grant through the White House connected initiative. This grant will help provide the students to the latest technology and learning tools. This will help provide the students in the classroom with the features as it transforms their learning, exploration, and creativity.
What does this mean? Each student and teacher here at the school will receive an iPad for instruction. This will allow the teachers to deliver the instruction in an entirely new way, and the students will be able to access an entirely new method of learning as well.
This is a huge success for the school and we look forward to the new opportunities that will come with this opportunity.
CONGRATULATIONS Nanwalek School!!

Candy crush comes to Alaska! I am just teasing. I saw Stormie yesterday. She mentioned you maybe are considering staying up there. You and your wild soul! <3 We miss you down here. I love the blog. (p.s. Your post about Solstice and her new person made me cry. I don't know how you were able to do that!) I know you are doing big things and changing the world for the better.
ReplyDeleteAww love my Stormie!! Yep, I am considering staying up here. After spending the weekend in Wasilla, Palmer, Chugiak (North of Anchorage) I pretty much feel in love. All goes well the next couple of months I am going to start the process of job searching in the area and apartment hunting. My best friend Merideth came and visited/explored with me this weekend and she had been bit by the Alaska bug as well. So, as of now she will be joining me too. It is so beautiful up here... as if you see God everyday.
DeleteThe Solstice blog made you cry... I was a blubbering mess. he he he. My eyes were all swollen in those pictures. I am so proud of her though. She is so in love with him and he with her. Melts my heart to know she is so loved. :)
Thank you for following me. I miss you guys so much too. It was hard being there for 5 days and leaving again, but I will be back to visit periodically, but honestly do no not see myself moving back to California. There is an entire world that has yet to be explored.
